Entering the village of Barovia, we see houses with smashed glass and burn marks. We hear a rattling sound to our left. Someone is standing behind a window, but disappears. Two children (brother & sister?) cross our path. They say that in their house, there is a monster, and that their parents are still inside. On the door we see claw marks (like from a wolf, but larger paws).

Found letter: “Walter raise as my own, as you are my true love. Gustav”
When touching the cradle, the ghost of a woman appears: “I will protect Walter with my life”.
The children tell us that the monsters are in the basement. They were locked up in their room by their mother (Elisabeth). They heard screams coming from the cellar, which did not sound like their family. Also, there is a secret passage to the basement through the dollhouse.
Walter was taken care of by the maiden. The maiden was dead (stabbed in stomach).
