We see humanoid footprints on the staircase, which must have been left here a long time ago.
There are 6 doors, leading to the the graves of the Family Durst
- Roswalda Durst (right): Empty stone coffin.
- Fornbold Durst (left): Empty stone coffin.
- Elizabeth Durst (right): Fight centipede. Find a wooden chest. Loot:
- 3 spell scrolls: Bless, Protection from poison, Spiritual weapon → Wonko
- Sigil of house (windmill)
- Last will (in unfamiliar handwriting): the house and the windmill in the east of Vallaki should both go to Rose and Forn.
- Gustav Durst (left): Dead body hanging over coffin with a dart in his face - looks like an adventurer. At the bottom of the coffin, there is a place for a letter (see Appendix A3) and an apparatus shooting poisoned darts.
- Walter Durst (right): Find dog (bound to creature/place). We put Walters teddy we found into the coffin. Voice: “Thank you. I will be coming home soon.”
- Empty (left)
Room with Altar:
- torso on it (long time dead)
- Fight with large worm (had some damage resistance)
Wood statue: man in coat with wolf and Crystal Orb (we took orb → fight with 5 shadows).
Whispers: “He is ancient. He is the land.”
Later we find out that this is a statue of Strahd von Zarovich
Large room: Water behind portcullis. Inside a Shambling Mound. On altar: package wrapped in clothes (small skeleton, stillborn baby).
Chanting figures appear, singing: “One must die.”
Dog: “I must go, so he can rest forever”. → we sacrificed dog
Chanting figures: “Logarth the destroyer may sleep. Further.”
→ Curse of this building is lifted.
Once we exit the house, the letters/pouch we found get ancient. Only ruins are left from the house, and the fog is gone.
